California appliance program used all its cash

California's Cash for Appliances program, administered by the California Energy Commission over eight months in 2010, saw more than 178,000 appliances replaced with more energy-efficient ones.

The CEC released final figures for the program this week, noting that all $33.5 million in federal rebate funds was used.

"Strong demand in this first-ever program resulted in our ability to ensure that every dollar from the federal government got into the pockets of Californians and into our statewide economy," said CEC Commissioner Karen Douglas.
